International Day for Women and Girls In Science
The International day for women and Girls in Science usually celebrated on February 11th every year is a day set aside by the United Nations to encourage equal access and participation in Science for women and girls. The theme for this year is “Equality and Parity in Science for Peace and Development”.
IHS Towers hosted a program on Friday February 9,2018 to commemorate the International Day for women and girls in Science. 40 female science students from two public secondary schools Aunty Ayo Girls Secondary School and Victoria Island Secondary School attended the event. Highlights included an excursion to NOC department and a visit to an IHS site. It also included a mentoring session with IHS female employees in the STEM field who enlightened the girls on the available opportunities and inspired them to pursue science and technology related careers.
